VoiceThread is free open source software that allows you to record voice with pictures or input text. It can be used for digital storytelling or to collect audio comments on a topic.

You can publish VoiceThread on a Blog and share it with as many people as you wish.

Our English class has set one up for topics we are studying and a book review.  Take a look at the beginnings of a voice thread about the environment. Students created the digital poster and are researching different sub topics , recording their findings with questions for discussion.  We are also using it for book reviews. Take a tour of what our students are doing and look at Voicethread examples that  K1- 12 teachers are doing on the Voicethread site – remember click the tab ” classrooms”.

You could look at using Voicethread to make your information product either individually or collaboratively you may want to document your learning of Web 2.0 technologies and publish it to the world on Voicethread and seek comments.

    1. Voicethread.com is really an amazing site for collabrative way of learning…I enjoyed looking around the videos which were done mostly by the students.
I enjoyed “phonomenon-students learning in their words:it was about Math competition which was done globally and the teacher was amazed about his students’ participation online.. and how they were eager to finish as many questions as they could collabratively..interesting point, they upload their scores online and I was surprised to see that United Arab Emirates was in the fourth place in this competition.
    2. Although the voicethread was used in many was by teacheres and students…ranged from posting advertisment about seminars going on to studetns objections in banning some sites in their schools..For me, I could use this site to help students post me their ideas, feelings and suggestions in what we are studying..because this is the main problem we face with students who remain silents in the class and don’t have the courage to face their teachers to what is happening in the class. Also, I can use this tool to encourage the students to practice reading aloud, speaking and depating which will save them from the embarassment in front of the class and will not make them miss their grades due to this issue.

    1. I really loved the whole concept of voice threads is amazing. I couldn’t explore much at the site because I had to sign in. But my favorite one is the storytelling section its called “New Orleans” which is located in America country side. The lady was speaking about her old home. I liked it because it gave the presentation a sense of ownership and making it personal which I think it all about meaningful learning especially for young children.

    2. I would definitely use this tool if it was possible in my teaching. I would use it with students to do their research projects. They could use the voice threads to present it to the whole class and even people around the world. I think this idea is useful because it makes it less stressful for students. I’d also use it for tasks like sharing personal stories, instructions and games…

    Hi,
I am here again to discover another way of using ICT in teaching as well as learning, and to be honest, I am amazed. In this task I discover how effective to use a voice thread in learning/teaching. I sing up in this website so I can try it by my self and have a chance to look at people voice threads.

From my JOURNEY through the different voice threads, I found one that I would like you to watch it, it called ‘The Future of Learning and Teaching’. In this voice thread a teacher post few questions for other teachers/educators asking them about their opinion in teaching and how classrooms nowadays changed by using the web 2.0 resources.

The only way that came to my mind while I was SURFING on the site is using it in listening task. Where the teacher can post some listening that supported with images and ask the students during the lesson to go and answer the listening worksheet using this voice thread she posted.
Moreover, this Techno can be used in collaborative classroom projects, where the students post/design their own voice thread that related to the selected task. This will give the teacher more clear image about her students’ competency.

Ammmmaaaaazing! Voice thread is an amazing way for mutual method of learning. I like the videos and voice of people being recorded for enjoyable learning. As I read about the many suggestions for uses of Voice Thread in teaching and learning light bulbs in my mind. Voice thread is very suitable resource for both visual and auditory learners
I was enchanted about the creation of the students and the teacher. They created lots like custom avatar/icon and used it when sharing their ideas during their project. By exploring many voice threads I realized how effective it would be to use this mind-blowing tool in a classroom.
Personally, I really was attracted by voice thread called “Color Poetry” which students and teacher have been designed for their classroom use.

    2. What is one way you could use this tool to support learning?
If I really have a chance to use, I would really use it in story telling and recording songs. I would also give a chance to allow every child in a class to record audio commentary about the ideas and experiences that are important to them. Whether it’s an event, a project, or a milestone, children can tell their story in their own voice, and then share it with the world to support meaningful learning.
