Podcasting

A series of technologies for transmitting audio and video.

Task 5

Read the link above and explore the working examples in elementary schools.

  1. My English students have created an interactive mulit-media presentation using moviemaker embedded in Powerpoint. They wish to add audio and embed their presentations in our Class Weblog and in their personal logs. What technologies do you recommend?
  2. I have students that want to listen to more English in the bus from the residences – it is a long drive. What tools and websites do you recommend?
  3. My students want to make video and download on http://www.youtube.com/.  They asked their teachers, but they also said “No!” . What ideas can you think of  so they can still make and publish videos ?

    1. I personally love this sort of stuff and I do it all the time. Well if they wanted to record stuff by them selves they could use movie maker it self to record or if they had a previous recording they can just add the audio file on the movie maker or even power point using mp3 or wave type of files.

    2. The tool would be MP4/MP3 players they are easy to get and students can afford to buy one they aren’t expensive. I would recommend for these students to download English movies and music into their device and they could enjoy the language in a fun way. Most of the sites I know for downloading are costing money and I don’t think students can afford but I would suggest that students could borrow DVD’s from the library and transfer them to their MP4 players.

I personally use these two links for downloading stuff:
http://www.limewire.com : its a program people could use to download movies, music, files, programs, images etc…
http://www.download.com : website containing both free and adware

    3. I personally use youtube.com, when downloading a movie on youtube the user has a privacy settings where he/she can control who views the movie.
If the students are looking to publish their movies there are other websites similar to youtube, here are some links:
    http://video.google.com/
    http://video.yahoo.com/
    http://makeinternettv.org/

They could also publish a video in their own site using Flash! it is safer.

1-I think that there are a lot of programmers available in computers to be used easily by the students. For recording their personals’ voice students can follow this steps: go to start + programs + accessories + entertainment + sound recorder. In addition, they can record their own voice and download sounds directly from the program they are using like the moviemaker or PowerPoint by hyperlink.

2- I think that they can download music from many sites with mp3 form and then save it in their phone to listen and enjoy the long drive.

3-I usually use http://www.youtube.com to download because it very popular site and has a privacy option. They can also use another sites like http://www.veoh.com/ or http://www.metacafe.com/ which works almost the same as youtube.

    Hallo everybody,
It is nice to see you again after this long journey of finding the answer to the main questions “Why we need ICT in teaching?” In this stopping station (before the last one) I am going to explore and find out about podcasting.
First I thought I need to know about what is podcast first there for I did a research and According to wikipedia ‘ A podcast is a series of digital-media files which are distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and computers.’ >>> know I am able to answer the questions

For the 1st question, personal speaking I am not expert at that area, but I will try to give a very simple answer. What I do mainly is to record (whatever I want to record) using my mobile phone, and transfer the recording to the PC using the USB extension. After that I enter the Power Point Page and on the selected slide I go to INSERT and I chose to insert audio  and that’s all.

Secondly, well that is easy, I can’t think of another way than music songs expose them to more English. Therefore, they can use ipod. Check apple website, it offer a lot of music, songs, videos, and other stuff: http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcasts.html

Finally, the 3rd question, well I unfortunately, can’t help them a lot in they area either, BUT== form my recent experience, I suggest that they use the voicethread instead: http://voicethread.com/#home.b36941.i200553 . Because it is more, simple, attractive and more important easy to use. They can create their own film with simple pictures, sounds, comments and that’s all.

Thank you for ur time 
